June 3 – Oilmen vs Elkhart County Miracle
Nappanee – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen spoiled Ben Zobrist night at Northwood’s Field of Dreams Complex for the Elkhart Miracle. The Oilmen jumped out early and never looked back, taking the game 14-1.
The Miracle started slow, giving up five runs in the top of the 1st. Both teams had a chance to reset in the middle of the first inning after a 45-minute weather delay.
The Miracle continued their streak of scoring at least one run in the first inning. They pushed one across after a handful of walks and a wild pitch.
It was slow going after that for the Miracle. They couldn’t capitalize with runners on, stranding eleven runners throughout the game.
The Oilmen continued to pour it on scoring two in the 5th, one in the 6th, and five in the 7th.
“We need pitching to improve” said Wilson Valera. “We have a bullpen day tomorrow and then I feel confident about Tuesday and Wednesday.”
The Miracle are back in action tomorrow against the Indiana Panthers, first pitch is slated for 2:00 PM EST. Elkhart Sports Hall of Famer Don Presser will be in attendance to throw out the first pitch.
