June 2 – Vikings vs Elkhart County Miracle
Nappanee – The Elkhart County Miracle’s hot start came to an end on Friday. They fell to the Vikings of Southland by a score of 2-16.
The Vikings jumped out early, scoring two in the first. The Miracle responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first on Bryce Lesher’s RBI double.
The wheels proceeded to fall off for the Miracle in the 4th, as they surrendered eight runs. Southland continued to score throughout the game, scoring two in the 7th and four in the 8th.
Sam Russo was solid on the mound in relief for the Miracle. He struck out four in four and two-thirds innings of work.
“We’re going to have games like this,” Wilson Valera, Miracle Manager, said. “We have to prepare to win tomorrow.”
The Miracle are back in action tomorrow against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, first pitch is slated for 6:00 PM EST. Tomorrow is Ben Zobrist night at the ballpark. The former Chicago Cubs World Series MVP will be in attendance to throw out the first pitch and sign autographs.
