Elkhart County Miracle Top the Griffith Generals in Season’s First Home Game Last Night
4-1 Win Evens Team’s Record on the Season
(Elkhart, IN)—Former Tampa Bay Rays Minor Leaguer Cristopher Gonzalez struck out eight batters while allowing just one hit in five innings on the mound to notch the win for the Elkhart County Miracle On Friday night at the Elkhart Athletic Complex. The victory evens the Miracle season record at 1-1. Logan Fassoth took the loss for the Griffith Generals.
The Miracle got strong relief performances from Estaban Alcantara and Skylar Reyes in route to a combined two-hit, 13-strikeout win. Extra Hitter (EH) Edgar Galindo collected two hits to lead Miracle batters, and centerfielder Nate Pinarski added to his team-leading .400 batting average with a hit and three stolen bases.
Next up for the Miracle is a single game later tonight in Whiting against Northern League rival the Northwest Indiana Oilmen at Oil City Stadium. The game will be streamed live on the Oilmen’s Facebook page.
Elkhart County returns home to play Northwest Indiana on Thursday. June 12th at 6pm. Tickets are available online at elkhartcountymiracle.com, or at the gate on the night of the game.
