
Elkhart County Miracle Hot Streak Continues Into Playoffs
Juan Polo notches win striking out 11. Pinarski, Kahl, and Johnson impressive with multiple-hits.
(Whiting, IN)—Homegrown talent with an international flair helped the Elkhart County Miracle over-power the Northwest Indiana Oilmen in Whiting Tuesday Night in the first game of the Northern League Baseball Championship Series.
The 10-4 win on the road featured outstanding performances by Elkhart County products Nate Pinarski-CF and Gabe Kahl-RF (each with two hits), the Dominican Republic’s Dahiandy Johnson-DH (four hits), and Columbian starting pitcher Juan Polo (0 earned runs/11 strikeouts).
The defending champion Miracle can sweep the best of three series when they return home to the Elkhart Athletic Complex at the intersection of Division and Waterfall Drive Wednesday night (August 6).
All-time Miracle strikeout leader and former Tampa Bay Rays minor leaguer Cristhofer Gonzalez is scheduled to get the start. He needs just five strikeouts to reach 100.
Tickets for the final Miracle home game of the season are available at elkhartcountymiracle.com, and at the gate. Game three (if necessary) will be played Thursday night in Whiting.
